THE LIGHTING DESIGNER
Jsay’s illuminating journey began on the vibrant campus of Norfolk State University. Initially pursuing a path in medical laboratory science, Jsay soon felt a creative pull that couldn’t be ignored. Drawn to the newly forming theatre program, she made a bold decision to switch her major, even though she knew the stage wasn’t where she belonged.
Faced with a pivotal choice—lights or sound—Jsay’s destiny was sealed when the lights chose her. Thus began her passionate exploration of lighting design. Despite being the only tech-focused student in a performance-oriented program, she embraced the challenge, teaching herself the intricacies of the craft.
Her journey took a significant leap forward when she was accepted into the prestigious SILV-Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas-where her knowledge and skills expanded. With newfound expertise and an unshakable passion, JSAY solidified her career in lighting, where she continues to shine brightly.
